About the Program

HomeBuilders is not a counselling program, nor is it led by professional therapists. Instead, it’s guided by trained and carefully screened facilitators who are equipped to deliver the program effectively, manage group dynamics, and uphold our Participant Protection Plan—creating a safe, consistent, and supportive space for every child and parent involved.

We welcome families of all faiths

HomeBuilders uses a variety of play-based tools—like games, songs, stories, and hands-on activities—to help both kids and parents build and apply healthy coping strategies. The program works best when both the parent and child are fully engaged and participating together.

While children are in their group, parents attend their own class, where they learn practical ways to support their kids at home. Each week, they receive take-home activities designed to reinforce the lessons and encourage meaningful family connection.

Each lesson in the HomeBuilders curriculum includes a Christian faith-based component, reminding children that God is with them in their hardest moments—strengthening them and helping them grow as they learn new tools for coping and healing. We incorporate Christian music, Bible stories, and prayer in a respectful, non-coercive way. While families from all backgrounds are welcome, the program is rooted in a Christian worldview and offers hope through that lens.

HomeBuilders was developed by skilled professionals with extensive experience in child development, physical literacy, and supporting children through the grief associated with divorce or separation.

Classes are held in group settings rather than one-on-one, giving children the opportunity to connect with peers who are going through similar experiences.

Kids and Parents Learning Together

To ensure that each child receives age-appropriate support, HomeBuilders separates participants into tailored groups: Grades 1–3, Grades 3–6, and Grade 7 and up, along with a dedicated group for parents. This structure allows us to meet kids where they’re at developmentally—using language, activities, and discussions that are suited to their stage of life. It also gives parents the space to focus on their own learning and growth in a group of peers walking through similar seasons.
