Building resiliency, one child at a time

When significant change or challenge happens in the life of a child, it is of paramount importance that they are equipped with the skills necessary to increase resiliency, work through their big emotions, and process grief in a healthy manner. That’s where HomeBuilders comes in.

Empowering children to overcome adversity

HomeBuilders gives children the tools to process big feelings and equips parents to support emotional regulation and the processing of their feelings in fun, meaningful, and practical ways. Whether your child is struggling with sadness, anger, confusion, or anything in between, HomeBuilders is a safe space where your child can find the help they need to move forward and build the resiliency skills need to not just survive, but to thrive. Don’t go through this alone! We are here to help.

We have three different streams for the program

Divorce/Separation

Bereavement

Resiliency

The Divorce and Bereavement Streams both are specific to children who have experienced divorce, separation, or death of a primary caregiver. The Resiliency Stream is for any child to learn the same coping skills as the other streams, but in a neutral focus as opposed to the specific focus of the other streams. When there is insufficient registrations, classes may be blended and facilitators will customize the lesson plans as needed.

HomeBuilders is not a sit, listen, and learn type of program. It is a move, sing, play, and explore kind of program! No bored kids here—we are learning and moving!

Each lesson has components of physical literacy because we know that children learn and retain better when they are moving. We use games with a purpose, music, art, and play while doing the discussions needed to teach children how to implement their coping tools. Parents are no different; this is not a parenting seminar! Rather, parents participate in their own class, learning how to support their children through change and transition or difficult times.
